Volunteers
Hub for Kimbondo organizes the activities that then volunteers develop during their staying at the Hospital. HFK selects, supports and follows every volunteer and explains them the ethical and moral rules that they have to follow in respect to the cultural and the particular environment of the Hospital.
The Hospital is a place to cure and a place where to grow spiritually, following the teaching of the Founders. Everyone who has the desire to help children and poor is welcome to enter our family of volunteer but has to be aware of the different and sometimes harsh conditions of life in the Hospital, either on a physical and emotional point of view.
A volunteer needs to:

Be over 18 years old

Have a good physical and psychologic status that would allow him/her to adapt in the environment and sociologic and sanitary conditions of the Hospital.

Has to be highly motivated.

Basic knowledge of French is preferred

Previous experience, professional or as volunteer, in helping or taking care of others.

Study the general culture and habits of Congolese and the rules of the Pediatric hospital (or be available to learn it)

Be able to approach a different culture without judging

Capacity of adaptation, hold of stress and auto control in situation like danger, conflict, seeing people suffering and / or dying.

Be respectful toward people and rules.

Be aware of the sanitary risks; gather information and know how to prevent diseases.

The Board of Directors of the Pediatric Foundation approved on 16/11/16, the CODE OF ETHICS FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN, in order to share a code of conduct for the operators, employees and volunteers working at the Pediatrics.
